I'm very happy how that picture of Dettifoss turned out. The waterfall is 100m wide and has a drop of 44m btw.

Myvatn Geothermal Fields. My favourite place in iceland. And my favourite shot so far. (I have a few more 😅) Thia place is so unreal

Yesterday, I've met at Sunset with Glass friend Yoshito ( https://glass.photo/_f7 ) in Tokyo at Shiinamachi Station to take a photo of Uonomi fish bar. It is right next to the station. Standing there, isolated between two streets. We went on the bridge and waited for the sun to set. But the photo i liked the most was the one i took fron ground level when we left. :D After that we went on a photowalk together to Shinjuku, to capture the light of all the neon signs. It was a very nice evening! I took hundreds of photos. So a lot will follow in the future. ...If you guys don't mind... :) view on Glass

If that isn’t a fitting photo for Halloween! 🎃 I encountered the flying Dutchman on my way to work yesterday. The fog was really thick, and luckily I had my camera with me.

Monday, I had once again the honour to bet the photographer at a PhD Graduation of a friend. It was at the beautiful Akademiegebouw in Utrecht. As we waited for the ceremony to start I noticed the sun shining through that stain glass window in the hallway. And i captured it. It was beautiful.

And that is my last Iceland picture. I thought it’s fitting. Right now I’m working on a photobook. I usally do this, after a holiday. Reliving the last holiday, before dreaming of (and planning) the next. Arranging all the photos into pages. Making nice compositions. I have a shelf full of them at home. I’m not 100% satisfied with my Iceland photos though I have to say. It was not the easiest environment to shoots and i somehow have the feeling my photos could have been better. In Japan, it’s easier to take a good picture imo. And I think the light is different. See, this may sound stupid. I’m no expert here. May it be the weather, may it be the time of year or the geographical position on our planet. In Japan I had more of a warm golden light. In Iceland I experienced a (sometimes to bright) cold light. Which seems fitting. What I wanted to say in a very complicated way is… The light was different 😅 And maybe I wasn’t very well prepared for this. But I like my pictures. Which brings me me to a very fitting japanese philosophy to close my essay I have read about a pillar at a temple in Nikko. It has a wave pattern and they have putted it upside down unlike all the others. It goes something like that: If something is perfect it is finished. There is no point in improving and keeping better. (Memory protocol) So I emprace the imperfection I guess, embrace the improving, getting bettter and having fun. But what I wanted to ask in the first place: Has anyone of you experienced different light in different parts of the world? view on Glass

we had a long steep walk to Henigfoss (128m) through wind and rain, but it waa totally worth it. Check out the red layers between the black rock!

Myvatn Lava Formations on a dark and rainy morning. The person in the yellow raincoat really adds to that picture in combination with the slowly fading orange leafs and the black of the vulcanic rocks. Thanks a lot. 😉

Here’s an underwater photo I took with my GoPro during our dry-suit snorkelling trip in the Silfra fissure. It looked a bit like a tourist trap, but it was absolutely stunning and I’m glad we went. i met that guy in iceland. he was very neutral about it. a stone-faced expression one might say.

monochrome shot of Stokkur Geyser. I always got a bit of a fright when it went off, even though I’d been waiting for it with my finger on the shutter button. But it’s actually turned out quite well.

Here we go - Iceland! First stop was Grindavík. Not on the photo, but stunning to see how the vulcanic erruption changed the area around here.

i had a lucky series of 3 amtropomorpic catches, yestetday in Utrecht on the way to a PhD Defense of a very good friend of mine. They are a Doctor now. So I guess the good luck worked. ☺️

He lives by the sea. Right by the water’s edge. Underneath the pier. Staring out at the ocean day in, day out. Exposed to the waves. Exposed to the wind. Slowly going mad. Like an old lighthouse keeper.

This church is on my way to work. I cycle past it every day. And time and again I think to myself, ‘That would be perfect for this category.’ Yesterday I finally took a photo. Last Wednesday, after nearly 16 years together, we had to say goodbye to our beloved cat Mia. 😔 It all happened very quickly and unexpectedly. We thought we will have a few more months together. It hurts. The silence at home. We miss her very much. It’s a small comfort that she passed away peacefully in the garden, in her favorite spot, in the sun. What remains are many wonderful memories. To take our minds off things, we printed linocut cards (first time) for all her friends and are now sending them out, along with an Instax photo of her as a keepsake. (she has quite a a lot) Thank god, we have so many pictures of her! We miss you, Mia! ❤️ view on Glass
